Sanskrit is the oldest language of mankind. All other languages are believably originated from Sanskrit and are eventually reformed. Vedas are believed to be the oldest creation in Sanskrit which was first in a tradition of initiating pupils mouth-to-mouth which later was transcripted when men started writing first on Bhojpatra and thereafter on papers. Vedic Scriptures ate believed to be the oldest which are written in Sanskrit, Mahabharat being the most recent and historically proven 5000 years ago. Sanskrit is called the language of Gods (and goddesses) Devbhasha. Mantras, rhymes and prayers are in Sanskrit. From Yagya to yoga initiation and from Ayurveda to Music all is scripted in Vedic Litrarues i.e. Sanskrit. If you are interested in Vedic discipline and spiritual practices, Sanskrit is then your first bet to get authentic knowledge; because things gt much misinterpreted by people today who exploit this knowledge for their own benefits. Learning Sanskrit enables you to see and understand the scripture in their originals. We know 2 kinds of Sanskrit. the old Sanskrit is called Vedic Sanskrit (klisht) which is complex and dynamic but hard to learn. Laukik Sanskrit is simplified Sanskrit which was later developed and became the language of folk.
